So should it be her brother?

Because my own life is less than interesting at the moment, and I don't have the energy for the rants I want to write out eventually, I am busy working on my novel. I've been working on this novel for about... oh... 4 years. I'm stuck. In chapter one. Basically, I need to decide if a long journey is going to be made with the heroine's long lost brother, or her long lost childhood playmate/romantic interest. Any votes? I'll post some of the story once I make my decision and you all can tear it apart or give me ideas or just tell me I'm awesome.
